As Chief Architect of Humbl Edge, Yoonjai brings a forward-thinking approach to investment strategy design, drawing on over two decades of industry experience. His work integrates fundamental analysis with proprietary AI insights to develop sophisticated, sensible strategies across equities, income, and risk overlay programs. Through projects such as Baritone Research - a Toronto-based boutique he founded - he has conducted extensive R&D into the practical applications of AI in global investing, developing novel frameworks and tools to advance strategy design. As a Portfolio Manager at Aligned Capital Partners, he leads the design and management of investment programs across a broad range of asset classes.

Previously, he served as Vice-President & Portfolio Manager at CI Global Asset Management, where he co-managed over $35 billion in multi-asset strategies and contributed to the growth and modernization of the firm’s multi-asset division. He played a key role across a range of innovative strategies and led initiatives in capital markets research, option-based solutions, and scalable retirement programs. His leadership contributed to award-winning mandates recognized by Fundata, Lipper, and Morningstar.

Yoonjai holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Chartered Market Technician (CMT) designations, and a BA in Economics from Western University. He has completed certifications in finance and technology, including the Artificial Intelligence Professional Certificate from Stanford School of Engineering. He is an experienced Python developer and speaks English, French, and Korean. As a mentor, he enjoys guiding and empowering colleagues to reach their full potential.

As CEO of Humbl Edge, Ted leads the firm’s strategic direction while supporting investment research and advisor engagement. With over 20 years of experience in the investment industry, he brings deep expertise in financial planning and portfolio management, along with a strong track record in growing advisory businesses. His diverse background and proven leadership uniquely position him to help advance Humbl Edge’s mission and deliver value to its partners.

Ted began his investment career at Edward Jones and later held roles at RBC Dominion Securities and the Bank of Montreal. At 49 North, he led a team delivering personalized investment solutions and managing a diversified client portfolio. He currently serves as Chief Strategist at CBIG Financial Group, overseeing investment planning and risk management, and as Associate Portfolio Manager with Aligned Capital Partners, where he is responsible for the firm’s equity and fixed income pools. 

Ted’s leadership philosophy is shaped by his international background, including teaching roles in Beijing, Taipei, and London - experiences that instilled a focus on adaptability, clarity, and the cultivation of high performance and innovation. He holds dual degrees in Education and Arts, with a double major in History and Economics from the University of British Columbia, and holds designations and certifications in financial planning, portfolio management, and securities regulation.

Outside of work, Ted’s life is illuminated by his spouse and their three children, who are his greatest joys. His journey from a northern boy to global educator and now a leader in finance continues to shape his commitment to supporting his partners and contributing to his community.
